在教堂婚礼中，除了花童，通常还有一个托戒指的小朋友(ring bearer)跟在新人身后，一同步入仪式现场。如果没有安排ring bearer，新郎的戒指应该由伴娘保管，新娘的戒指则由伴郎保管，等到仪式中新人交换信物的时候，伴娘把新郎的戒指交给新娘，然后新娘才为新郎把戒指戴在他的左手无名指上。戴戒指时，新郎应弯曲肘部，把手伸到自然的高度，新娘用左手托新郎的手，右手的拇指，食指和中指握戒指，戴入新郎的无名指。如果因为紧张戴不上时，一定不要着急抬起他的手，放到自己的眼前仔细套上戒指，这样拍出的照片会很不美观。新郎一方也是同样的做法。
