空气滤清器是滤除空气尘埃污物的部件，过滤后的干净空气进入螺杆转子压缩腔压缩。因螺杆机内部间隙只允许15u以内的颗粒滤出。如果空滤芯堵塞破损，大量大于15u的颗粒物进入螺杆机内循环，不仅大大缩短机油滤芯、油细分离芯的使用寿命，还会导致大量颗粒物直接进入轴承腔，加速轴承磨损使转子间隙增大，压缩效率降低，甚至转子枯燥咬死。

空滤芯最好每星期保养一次，拧开压盖螺母，取出空滤芯，用0.2-0.4Mpa的压缩空气，从空滤芯内腔向外吹除在空滤芯外表面的尘埃颗粒，用干净的抹布将空滤壳内壁上的赃物擦干净。回装空滤芯，注意空滤芯前端部的密封圈要与空滤壳内端面贴合严密。柴油动力螺杆机的柴油机进气空滤芯的保养应与空压机空滤芯同步进行，保养方法相同。

空滤芯正常情况1000-1500小时更换一次，环境特别恶劣的使用场所，如矿山、陶瓷厂、棉纺厂等，建议每500小时更换空气滤芯。
